Abstract :
In the scope of underwater warfare, signature of ship wakes is attractive for its exploitation in ship detection, tracking and classification. Ship wake signature is generally more distinct than the signature of the ship. In this work, particle filter method has been simulated for target tracking using wake echo measurements. A wake model that exists in literature has been used in the simulations with some modifications. Receive level profiles when insonifying ship wake has been obtained. It has been observed that particle filter method gives successful results for tracking ships using wake echo measurements.
