Abstract
Image segmentation is one of the basic steps used in digital image processing methods. In this study, a fully automated segmentation method using edge-based level sets approach for color images which do not have the relatively complex structure is presented. In the method, a segmentation approach has been developed by taking into account interaction with each color channel of the image, which is a fundamental difference compared to the most of the existing approaches in the literature. The experimental results show that the method is able to segment simple structured color images successfully.
