Abstract :
In this paper a robust sensorless cascade speed control scheme for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive is proposed. A Quasi Sliding Mode Control (QSMC) is considered and the rotor position and speed are obtained from measurements of electric quantities, eliminating the need for mechanical sensors, through a Sliding Mode Observer (SMO). The analysis of the control stability is given and the ultimate boundedness of the speed tracking error is proven. The proposed solution is experimentally tested on a commercial PMSM drive equipped with a control system based on a microcontroller (MCU) of the Texas Instrument family C2000TM.
