  • Abstract
A substantial rise in global energy demand and growing concern about shortage on conventional energy reserves as well as environmental issues have drawn more attention to renewable energy sources. The photo voltaic (PV) cell has optimum operating point to be able to get maximum power. To obtain maximum power from photovoltaic power system usually requires Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Controller. In this work fuzzy based MPPT is proposed. The photovoltaic generator exhibits a nonlinear - characteristic and its maximum power (MP) point varies with solar insolation. Fuzzy logic is a natural way of expressing uncertain information and can be finely tuned to certain nonlinearities. The algorithm is verified for various atmospheric conditions in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
