Abstract
Rural electrification is increasingly becoming a household necessity for eradicating the energy crisis confronted by the people living in remote areas. As these areas are thinly populated and present in difficult terrain so direct grid connectivity is an uphill task. To mitigate such problem hybrid energy system is a suitable alternative which utilizes the resources available locally and convert it directly to electricity. The paper covers a case study comprising of twelve villages in Jaunpur block of Uttarakhand state of India. The model is evaluated on the basis of minimizing cost. A comparative analysisbetween LINGO 13.0 version and MATLAB GA toolbox is covered for various load conditions. From the economic analysis, the capital cost, cost of energy for different types of resources, the optimized cost and RES penetration at various values of EPDF are derived.
