Abstract :
In four stroke spark ignition engines there is high exhaust emissions and low fuel economy due to the incomplete combustion, during idling and at part load operating conditions. To reduce the incomplete combustion in spark ignition engines, electronic controlled fuel supply system has been developed. Electronic biogas supply system was developed for better fuel economy and reduced emissions. The performance and emission characteristics of biogas engine with & without Electronic Control Unit are compared. The above studies indicate the improvement in engine emissions and precise control of air fuel ratio. The pollution levels of HC and CO were reduced respectively compared to a conventional biogas engine. It is found that there is a reduction in the peak power output of the engine when operating with biogas but by using electronic control unit we can increase power slightly.
