Abstract :
Energy saving in industrial sector is assuming great significance as industries consume around half of the total energy consumption. Among many electrical energy consuming equipment induction motors are widely used in industries which consume 70% of energy in the organisation. Therefore, energy saving efforts in induction motors as part demand side management(DSM) measure contributes for substantial savings and revenue earnings. Various energy saving techniques in induction motors are discussed. These techniques are implemented in an industry practically. Results show that the energy saving as around 10% of the total consumption of the industry. The payback period is calculated as 13 months.
