Abstract :
Wind energy conversion system (WECS) are being increasingly connected in distribution systems utilizing power electronic converters. This paper presents a novel control strategy for achieving maximum benefits from these grid-interfacing inverters. The grid interfacing converter used is a voltage source inverter (VSI) which is modulated by space vector modulation (SVM) technique. A new control strategy is used in this paper, where any power demand of the grid can be met by the proposed system. Phase locked loop (PLL) is used to lock grid frequency and phase. The total harmonic distortion (THD) percentage is calculated for grid interfacing inverter. The converter and control are verified by simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
