Abstract
A numerical investigation of the electromagnetic forces produced by dipole antennas is presented. The analysis reveals that, aside from the known gradient and radiation pressure forces, dipole antennas produce an attractive near-field force originated as a component of the absorption-scattering force. This result enables the development of electromagnetic traps exploiting resonant frequencies where the electromagnetic field matter interaction is maximized.
