Abstract
The design of Ultra Wideband antennas requires quite different considerations, compared to narrow band antennas. The major difference results from the intended application either in Frequency Domain or in Time Domain. Killers for Ultra Wideband antennas are the excitation of different modes versus frequency and energy storage (resonators). In addition the Fidelity, the Group Delay and a constant radiation are important for applications in UWB communications, Radar and sensing. With these criteria UWB antennas can be grouped in possible applications in Time domain or Frequency domain on one side and low gain or high gain on the other side.
