Abstract
Body-centric wireless communications (BCWCs) have become an active area of research due to many applications such as health care system, identification system and entertainment. In this paper, a dual-mode antenna for body-centric wireless communications is studied. In on-body mode, the antenna is similar to a pair of metal electrodes operating at 10MHz and in off-body mode, with an L-shaped slit embedded, the antenna can cover the 2.45 GHz ISM band. Measured results, including received voltage at 10 MHz, reflection coefficient, radiation patterns and received power in the 2.45 GHz ISM band are presented to validate the proposed antenna. Since the proposed antenna is applied in BCWCs, we used two arm phantoms for 10 MHz and 2.45 GHz in measurement.
