Abstract
The properties of rectangular patch antennas fed by a probe are computed over a wide width and height range, first through a classical procedure based on the cavity model and secondly through a new procedure. The results are compared to purely numerical values provided by a finite element simulator. Regarding gain, resistance, efficiency and bandwidth the new procedure is similar, closer or even much closer to the numerical simulations.
