Abstract
The biomedical applications of UWB Radar promises a very important alternative or complementary tool to conventional medical imaging applications. Interesting targets are breast cancer detection and recently stroke detection. In this paper, the interaction of UWB signals with an analytical multilayer model of human head consisting of high contrast dispersive layers will be accurately predicted and analyzed. Two scenarios of reflection and transmission will be considered and a link budjet analysis will be performed. The results will provide an invaluable insight into the system requirement of an imaging Radar for stroke detection.
