Abstract
This paper presents a reconfigurable micromachined antenna for radiation pattern diversity. It consists of two elements, whose relative excitation phases can be adjusted using a number of delay lines and switches. The beam of the proposed antenna can be switched among three different angles: -25°, 0°, and 25°. Optimization has been carried out using HFSS and results are verified using CST. The good agreement between the two packages validates the presented results. The proposed antenna has reasonable working bandwidth, high directivity, and high radiation efficiency. The overall size of this antenna excluding the ground plane is 2.44 mm-by-2.26 mm.
