  • Abstract
    This paper presents measured whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (WB-SAR) values for human phantom models under 2GHz far-field exposure. Using cylindrical-external field scanning, we develop an experimental WB-SAR measurement system for far-field exposure. A key characteristic is that it can be easily applied to human phantoms that have different postures or sizes, because it is not necessary to determine the electromagnetic components distributed inside the phantom. The postured human phantoms used in this paper were designed from enhanced high-resolution numerical human models and fabricated from 2/3 muscle-equivalent tissue material consisting of carbon materials embedded in silicone. The measurement WB-SAR values for male adult and child human phantom were, under the ICNIRP reference level exposure condition, comparable with the numerical calculation results that have been reported.
