Abstract :
This paper presents the Time-Difference-of-Arrival (TDOA) imaging technique for ultra-wideband microwave mammography. The algorithm considers a triplet of one Tx- and two Rx-antennas where the differences in times-of-arrival are exploited for the image reconstruction process. It is shown by means of simulated signals and realistic breast geometries that the TDOA-algorithm provides accurate tumor localization. The three-dimensional intensity distribution is further processed by the visualization toolkit (VTK) to realize high quality and interactive reconstructions. In addition, we discuss the reconstruction quality generated from raw (radio-frequency) and envelope-detected (rectified) echo signals.
