Abstract :
A UWB compact planar antenna was presented with a proper tapered coplanar waveguide feeding structure. The antenna and the feeding structure can be described using four geometrical parameters. A genetic algorithm was used to optimize the antenna structure in order to obtain both lower return loss and minimum correlation factor in the band of interest. Measurements on the fabricated prototype have shown a return loss less than -15 dB over the European regulated UWB bandwidth. Measurements of the correlation factor, the gain and the radiation patterns will be presented at the conference.
