Abstract :
This paper describes the calculation of the average ground conductivity from electric field measurements on MF frequency band carried out in Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil. This effort aims to provide accurate information on the ground conductivity, which is a key parameter related to digital broadcast system planning at frequencies below 30 MHz. Two prediction models are analyzed. One of them is fully described by Norton and Van der Pol formulations and the other one has more input parameters, intended for urban use. Measurements were performed at 1090 kHz.
