Abstract
Linear Programming-based optimization solutions provide ways to improve the itinerary generation process and, therefore, the quality of future schedules; The new model is also flexible to incorporate additional modeling requirements; Improving network connectivity and aircraft utilization requires fewer aircraft to complete the network and contributes to cost efficiency. However, the tradeoff of this strategy is between schedule depeaking and airline banking strategy; Preserving the schedule peaks satisfies passenger demand but reduces cost efficiencies and may overschedule leading to increased delays.
