Abstract
Vehicle maintenance and management system, which can be described as a vehicle maintenance system embedded with GPS, avoids any delays in the maintenance system and performs necessary testing to support regulatory and advisory activities, evaluations of system performance, effectiveness and the development and validation of standards. This research was separated into four modules; vehicle maintenance, route planning, live and history tracking and driver log sheet management. When testing this system with major transporters in Sri Lanka, we gathered data from manual data sheets they used to manage their fleet. Once we setup the automated system in their vehicles we had a better data pool to compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of our system. When we calculated the carbon foot print, we used recommended global knowledge from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Australia and UK and used the best methods suitable to calculate CO2 emissions (Kg)[5].Empowering the GO-GREEN concept is the ultimate goal of our research team.[5]
