Abstract :
Software Development practices & methods significantly play a major role in Software Quality. Software inspections or also known as reviews facilitate software professionals to improve the quality among their products and to eliminate defects. This research is carried out to gain a broad understanding on software inspection methods and practices used in software development firms in Sri Lanka. Research objectives will check whether the Sri Lankan industry use software inspection to improve quality, to identify the types of inspection methods used by the industry and to identify what are the benefits and drawbacks faced by the industry. The research is supported through both quantitative and qualitative measurement techniques like questionnaires and interviews. As research outcomes, it is identified that, most of the Sri Lankan IT firms use software inspection methods and practices to improve their products to have quality software products.
