Abstract :
To achieve scalability and Quality of Service (QoS) of multicast service, a multicast mechanism called Macro Circuit Tree (MCT) is proposed. By aggregating the multicast groups with the same or similar QoS requirement, MCT could efficiently reduce the forwarding entries in routers and improve the multicast scalability. Because MCT adopts Macro Circuit (MC) to forward multicast packets, it could also improve the packet forwarding efficiency and provide required QoS. First, the basic concepts on MCT are defined. Then, the MCT establishing mechanism and policies are designed, and the establishing and adjusting algorithms are proposed and analyzed. At last, the label switching mechanism is designed.
