  • Abstract
    There are a variety of options available for electrical insulation of medium and high voltage machines. This paper will include a discussion of groundwall insulation options for 6kV motor insulation systems and the factors for materials selection. Chemical compatibility of impregnation resin and mica tape as well as proper and controlled processing are key parameters for good electrical performance of the final insulation system. Investigation of several VPI resins and two mica tapes on test bars was performed. Electrical data (DF) for system options are presented, compared and discussed.
