  • Abstract
Methods of dynamic equivalence based on some kind of consistency have been proposed to reduce the computational effort required in studies of the behavior of electric power systems. The coherency in power systems refers to the property of the elements of these systems present in the time domain responses similar during the occurrence of a transient in these systems. The work presented here seeks to determine whether the behavior of sets of coherent bars can provide information on the stability of the electric power system. The major contribution of this paper is to present a methodology based on the use of artificial intelligence, that regardless of the accuracy of the modeling and the parameters commonly adopted to represent the electric power system, allows to obtain information on their current behavior as well as short-term prediction of their future behavior.
