Abstract :
This paper presents the design and development of a novel in-line capacitive moisture sensor for polymer industries. This capacitive moisture sensor can reach a precision of 5 ppm moisture (equivalent to a capacitance change of 10 fF) in harsh industrial environments and over a wide temperature range from 0°C to +200°C. Simulation results used to optimize the sensor sensitivity and experimental results obtained from moisture measurements for the polymer polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) during a drying cycle of 6 hours are reported.
