Abstract
This paper presents a new maximum efficiency point tracking (MEPT) method to get minimum power losses of wind turbine with doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). This method is based on reactive power sharing ratio (RPSR) method which determines reactive power distribution controlled by two back-to-back inverters. A part of reactive power generation is controlled by rotor side inverter, and another part is controlled by main side inverter. Optimum operation is estimated by a routine which calculates power losses of wind power generator at all operation points. Wind power generator system which implements this method has better efficiency than another system which implements unity power factor at partial load under normal and abnormal grid condition.
