Abstract :
This paper describes a new line-starting method of a class of synchronous motors. A general overview of line start synchronous machines is first presented. Problems related to the starting of these machines will be highlighted. Problems related to line starting of synchronous machines which do not have damping or squirrel cages will be particularly discussed. The proposed line starting method will more specially concern these machines.
