Abstract :
In this paper a planar monopole antenna with DGS have been presented for enhancing the bandwidth along with an U-slot for obtaining band notch characteristics. A circular patch antenna of radius 6mm has been placed over FR4 substrate with 5mm ground plane on the back side. The antenna operates in UWB with VSWR<;2 from 4.1GHZ to 11.65GHz. There is an Ushaped slot in the patch which is used to remove 5.1-5.9 GHz frequency band used for WLAN application. The VSWR and radiation pattern of the antenna has been presented for UWB applications.
