Abstract :
Within the construction projects, where the concept of relationship is trying to improve, the project participants are realizing that the sharing of knowledge and information is the one of the key elements of success. Main contractors played a significant role in the most projects in construction field, also commonly referred to as subcontractors. However, the relationship between them is slightly poor. To gain insight in this relationship, a study was conducted to identify the challenges in relationship between main contractors and subcontractors currently in Malaysia. The interview method was chosen to obtain data from twenty contractors and the data were processed using the NVivo 9 software before being analyzed. Throughout this study, the detailed description of challenges in relationship between main contractors and subcontractors was achieved to assist in improving the relationship among construction players in construction project practiced.
