Abstract
A new car-following model considering the drivers reaction-time delay (DRTD) is presented at first. Then, applying the relationship between the micro and macro variables in traffic flow, we acquire a macro model for traffic flow with the consideration of DRTD effect. The characteristic solution is derived from the hyperbolic equations group which is composed of the new model´s dynamic equation. And the characteristic speeds are consistent with the fundamental principle that vehicles are anisotropic. Stability condition for the macro model is obtained, which is showed that the stability of traffic flow is related to driver´s reaction-time delay.
