Abstract
The motivation and objectives of this work come from the recent increasing interest in using guided waves in defect location and characterization for long pipes used in nuclear and chemical industry. The presence of fluid inside and in some cases outside the inspected pipe raises the problem of guided modes dispersion curves. This study develops the theoretical aspects linked to the understanding of fluid influence on the dispersion curves of pipes. The dispersion curves for thin walled pipes and plates are compared. Dispersion curves for the fluid column and cylindrical thin shells are obtained.
