Abstract
This paper presents a robust direct torque control (DTC) combined with sliding mode control (SMC) for a switched reluctance motor (SRM). The conventional method to control the torque ripple utilizes torque sharing function (TSF) considering the torque and motor parameters. However the control method using TSF has the problem of unexpected torque ripple which is induced by the inner inductance of the motor and the variable parameters. To overcome this problem, in this paper, DTC using SMC is derived. Unlike the torque ripple control using TSF, the proposed method has simple and robust performance. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation based on a 1.5kW SRM drive system.
