Abstract :
This study describes a method of diagnosis for IGBT open-circuit faults in vector control induction motor drives. This method combines the wavelet analysis and the support vector machines (SVM). The wavelet analysis is used to extract fault characteristics, and the SVM is used to isolate fault modes. This method is insensitive to the motor speed and load. The results of Matlab simulation analysis shows that this method can effectively carry out the fault diagnosis for IGBT open-circuit faults in vector control induction motor drives.
