Abstract
The barrier lakes need real-time and effectively monitoring to ensure immediate, organized evacuation. The traditional way of barrier lakes monitoring is limited by the harsh environment in disaster areas with some disadvantages such as poor real-time capability, high cost and the lack of ground-level monitoring. In this paper, we proposed a real-time barrier lakes monitoring and warning system, which is based on wireless sensor network (WSN), mobile internet, web service, images predictive evaluation and expert decision. This system acquires images data by wireless sensor nodes connected to CMOS cameras, transmits collected data via Zigbee sensor network and GPRS network to remote servers, and processes data in remote smart server and monitoring center. Experimental results show that the system is efficient and feasible, and could provide a new approach or reliable technical support to flood control for the downstream cities.
