  • Abstract
This paper presents the results obtained from a recording system for the insertion of surgical instrumental which is guided by imaging equipment in minimally invasive surgeries focused on the lumbar region. The system involves hardware and software tools; the latter are capable of yielding angles, intracorporeal length, acceleration, and velocity of the instrumental by means of image processing. The system was subjected to tests in order to validate its precision and accuracy. The accuracy of intracorporeal length has an absolute error of less than ±1.5 mm, and a variation of ±1 mm in its precision (99%), whereas the angles can be measured with a precision of ±1° (99%).
