Abstract :
A methodology is proposed for regulating the image-acquisition sampling rate of endoscopic capsules. The proposed method utilizes acceleration information to increase the sampling rate during rapid movement. In order to test this method, a module has been designed, which allows a quick implementation of the methodology. This module consists of a custom-built PCB, which amongst other components interfaces with an Opal Kelly FPGA board. The whole setup is tested on a Motion Dynamic movement simulator. The proposed methodology ensures a thorough scan of the G.I. tract, whilst consuming less power than the fixed sampling rate used in existing capsules.
