Abstract :
It is known that channel estimation methods significantly affect the bit-error performance of a receiver. In this paper we compare some of the estimation methods with simulated channels and on-air (real) channels for both fixed (non-moving) and mobile reception for a DVB-T receiver. The experimental results are presented in terms of Reed-Solomon (RS) error bytes and mean squared errors (MSE) for real and simulated channels, respectively. The results show that transform-domain method performs well for lower SNR, fixed-reception environment. For high-speed mobile reception, the 1-D channel estimation method is better in simulated channels, whereas the 2-D estimation is slightly better in real channels.
