Abstract
Digitally encoded signals are robust and less prone to noise contamination over the transmission channel. This work looks for a comparative study of the two popular companding methods used most often for reducing bandwidth requirement. In this paper these two companding methods are observed intensively with complete encoding and regeneration procedure. For a random speech signal the methods have been employed and some special characteristics have been revealed.
