BEBS: A framework for bilingual summary generation

Due to the rapid growth of Internet technology, at present we are in the era of information overload. We can often find that individual person describes a topic with the information available at his hand. As a result, there are situations where some important information are missing in one document, while those information are available in another document. This situation is more common if the topic is described by the authors of different languages. A well generated summary from such documents can easily overcome the information gap of the documents and can provide the valuable information to the users. At present many commercial and non-commercial documents summarizer tools are available. However, most of them are unilingual in nature and none of them considers summary generation from English and Bangla electronic documents. Considering the fact, in this paper, we have introduced a framework BEBS (Bangla English Bilingual Summarizer) for generating summaries from English and Bangla electronic documents. The system can also generate summaries from the documents of the same language. The system has been evaluated by a set of real documents on different topics. We have found that our system can generate summaries upto a satisfactory level.
