Abstract
FDLs can be effectively used as an alternative to optical buffering. This paper model FDL as an M/M/r queue to resolve BLP. Optical Burst Switched (OBS) networks are inherent to Burst Loss due to the lack of optical RAM. So there is an alternative method for temporarily buffer the DB if the network detected a high traffic in the core node. FDLs can be effectively used as an alternative to optical buffering. This will provide a finite amount of time delay for the DB. There is a need for the exact modeling of the delay provided by the FDL in order to model the complete OBS network node. This paper model FDL as an M/M/r queue to resolve Burst Loss Probability (BLP) in the core nodes of the OBS network.
