Abstract
Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) based sensors have emerged as dominant tools for real-time monitoring of biomolecular interaction. SPR biosensors are very versatile and can be adapted to detect almost any analyte for which a biorecognition element is known. This paper presents the development of a prism coupler based low cost SPR instrument for biosensing applications. Sensor calibration experiments were conducted using standard refractive indices solutions. Functionalization of the sensor surface was carried out and GaHIgG - HIgG binding detection was detected using SPR.
