Abstract :
This paper proposes a new single stage dc-ac inverter for solar applications. Unlike in conventional two stage converter, the proposed converter bucks or boosts the solar dc voltage and invert to ac in a single stage. A single PV cell source and a single buck-boost inductor are shared in both half cycles ensuring symmetrical operation devoid of any parameter variance. Without a bulky and heavy transformer, converter is suitable for double grounding, enhancing the overall safety of the system. The configuration uses lesser components making it compact and less weight. Because of symmetrical operation in both half cycles, the ac output has zero dc component. Closed loop control scheme too can be provided making it apposite for a standalone load or residential applications for a constant voltage supply. Detailed analysis and design of the converter is carried out in the paper. Simulation results are revealed for circuit validation.
