Abstract :
Color being important parameter for object recognition, need to be presented without color casts. Color constancy and the white point estimation or balance for color calibration always remains challenge for researchers. Many algorithms proposed for the same. This paper proposes the method to estimate outdoor illumination using statistical approach and HSV plane. The results obtained shows high correlation with the all planes. Saturation plane gives higher correlation and fitted to regression for estimation of illumination. Results extended can be used for various applications in image processing.
