  • Abstract
    This paper presents a design of permanent magnet synchronous motor for an electric tractor. Based on output characteristics of conventional diesel vehicle, motor specification is determined. Through finite element analysis (FEA) and equivalent magnetic circuit model, interior permanent magnet motor which has rated driving condition of 20kW is designed. In order to reduce cogging torque and total harmonic distortions of electromotive force, optimal shape of rotor core is estimated. Trial product is manufactured and verifies the design validity.
