Abstract
The paper presents application results for high-frequency Doppler radar system SeaSonde™ by CODAR Ocean Sensors meant for measurement of surface currents in Kara Sea water areas from ship board. The developed measurement guidelines enabled collecting on-line data on currents structure in the area featuring high variability of hydrometeorological parameters. The obtained data ensure assessment of quantitative characteristics of current tidal instability in the investigated water area and demonstrate relationship between surface current parameters and spatial nonuniformity of water salinity. Such nonuniformity in this case is stipulated by intensive river discharge in the measured area.
