Emergency and essential system for offshore units with cable connection to another unit or shore

The latest years more offshore oil and gas platforms with cable connection to other platforms and to shore have been put into operation. A cable connection to another platform is sometimes more economic and/or gives a higher level of safety and operation flexibility. This paper will address how such systems have been developed with regard to emergency- and essential systems and also propose a completely new way of designing emergency systems for such systems.
