Abstract :
This paper deals with an innovative driver assistance system for heavy vehicles. Drivers of heavy vehicles like long haulage tractor-trailer configurations are faced with many different and large blind spots around the truck. Due to this fact even professional drivers need some support while driving and especially lane changing. The presented side assist system addresses exactly this situation, supporting the truck driver in these situations.
