  • Abstract
    This Special Issue of IET Optoelectronics has been prepared in conjunction with the annual conference on Semiconductor Integrated Optoelectronics (SIOE) held in Cardiff in April 2013. The conference was established in 1972 by Ben Thomas, Mike Adams and Peter Landsberg as the conference on Semiconductor Injection Lasers and their Applications (SILA) and has continued under the leadership of Alan Shore and now Peter Smowton.
