Abstract
The principles of software-defined networking as applied to multi-service broadband optical access systems are discussed, with an emphasis on centralized software-reconfigurable resource management, digital signal processing (DSP)-enhanced transceivers and multi-service support via software-reconfigurable network “apps”.
