Abstract :
A new FEM is given in which the planar continuum is replaced by the planar frame. Firstly the planar continuum is subdivided into the planar rectangular element with 5 nodes and 15 degrees of freedom, and then the rectangular element is transformed into the cross-frame element, thus replacing the planar continuum by the planar frame. Nodal force in the cross-frame element under loading is calculated. By means of virtual force method, the cross-section deformation of the beam is calculated, and then the new nodal force is calculated by using the deformation in the cross-frame element. By superposing the nodal forces of the same cross-frame element, nodal force in the planar rectangular element is obtained. Numerical analysis is carried out to test the method and result s show that the method is feasible.
